A subluxation refers to the structural misalignment or fixation between 2 or more vertebrae, causing nerve irritation and resultant alteration in the normal mechanical and neurological function of the body.

An adjustment is the specific chiropractic procedure used to eliminate or reduce a subluxation thereby restoring normal neural transmission to the involved area and assisting the body’s natural ability to achieve maximum health.

Here are Ridgeway Health and Wealth we advocate chiropractic care as a mainstay of an all round healthy lifestyle. You don’t have to be in pain to benefit, indeed regular chiropractic adjustments should be similar to dental check ups and taking your car in for a service. Don’t wait to have a problem to get a check-up.

While spinal health is not measured through pain alone and you don’t have to be in pain to benefit from chiropractic care, a side effect of chiropractic adjustments is pain relief. A natural, drug free, non-invasive pain relief.

This is all down to subluxations interfering with the normal function of the body. If your spine is misaligned this can cause issues with the nerves in the body causing things like headaches, neck pain, back pain, leg pain, sciatica and arm pain to name but a few. As well as aches from where a joint may be fixated. Chiropractic care can help relieve the pain and discomfort of these by aligning your spine reducing any nerve impingement and freeing up fixated vertebrae.

Furthermore, you may also suffer from a whole host of other ailments that you may not think are related. But because of these subluxations, your nervous system is not able to function properly. Your nervous system is connected to all functions of the body, so any reduction in function of this due to subluxations is going to have an impact on the organs in the body. Basically, an unhealthy, subluxated spine, means an unhealthy person; a healthy well-adjusted spine means a healthy well-adjusted person.

Pain is often one of the first symptoms to go.  However, this does not necessarily mean that you are subluxation free as only a small portion of a nerve is dedicated to the sensation of pain. Once the spine is adjusted to the point of pain relief or reduction and on the path to correction, we introduce the use of spinal rehabilitation to strengthen the core muscles and therefore strengthen and stabilise the spine. Continuing in this way it is possible to minimise and prevent further subluxations.

There are many factors in modern day life which can impact on our health. Things like stress, trauma and other emotional and physical factors can lead to subluxations and it is important to address these. Our aim is to provide the highest quality of chiropractic care to get you feeling well and out of pain and discomfort and then to keep you that way. We want to give the body the best possible chance to heal itself and help protect it from further damage.
